DAY 1

8:00 am – 9:30 am
Enjoy your chef prepared 3-course hot breakfast in the main dining room. After breakfast, relax with a
stroll around Rose Hill Retreat to take in the scenery and plan your day’s activities. Here are our suggestions
to help plan your days at Rose Hill Retreat.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Begin the day exploring LBJ National Park.
LBJ National Historical Park: Ranch District in Stonewall
The National Park Service operates the LBJ Ranch and offers public access to the ranch, Texas Whitehouse,
LBJ’s birthplace, Johnson family cemetery, old Junction School, LBJ’s grandparents’ home and
ranch showbarn. As of May 2014, the park is home to part of the Official Texas State Longhorn Herd.
LBJ National Historical Park: Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm
Tours of the complex, including the Sauer-Beckmann farm with its smokehouse, Victorian style house,
garden, and log house lasts approximately an hour.

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Break for lunch at the East Main Grill in The Old Lumber Yard complex in Johnson City. Or, go to the
Hye Market, housed in one of the Hill Country’s best-preserved old post office/general stores, for
freshly made sandwiches and tasty flatbreads.

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Enjoy the afternoon in Fredericksburg touring a few of our treasured historical sites.
Walking Tour of Fredericksburg Historic District. Starting and ending at the Visitor Information
Center located at 302 East Austin Street, this tour features 30 of the over 700 historically significant
structures in the Fredericksburg historic district, giving you a flavor of the Fredericksburg story and the
architectural styles that have evolved over the decades.
Pioneer Museum in Fredericksburg tells the story of German settlers in the Texas Hill Country. Experience
the rich German heritage of Gillespie County. This 3.5-acre museum complex contains superb
examples of early German structures and artifacts. Several times a year, the Pioneer Museum will hold
events staffed by docents in period dress that are fun for the whole family including storytelling, rope
making, soap making, sheep shearing and more.
Fort Martin Scott
Fort Martin Scott was the first U.S. military post to be established on the western frontier of Texas. Today
it is an historical treasure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Take a self-guided walk
at the site of a pre-Civil War (1848) military outpost to learn about one of the first frontier Army forts in
Texas.
Texas Rangers Heritage Center
The Heritage Center includes the Rangers Tower, standing apart as a beacon for learning, a salute to
good citizenship, and the Ranger Ring of Honor, a soaring memorial dedicated to those who gave all in
their service to the Texas Rangers and to the Citizens of Texas.

6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Enjoy dinner at the Cabernet Grill for gourmet seafood, Certified Angus Beef, wild game and ranch
fare.

8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Retire to your luxurious accommodations and enjoy the sunset and stars from your deck.

DAY 2

8:00 am – 9:30 am
Enjoy your chef prepared 3-course hot breakfast in the main dining room.

10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Continue your 2nd day in the Hill Country touring the National Museum of the Pacific War complex in
Fredericksburg.
National Museum of the Pacific War- is a complex dedicated to all those who served in the Pacific
War. The Admiral Nimitz Museum, George Bush Gallery of the Pacific War, the Plaza of the Presidents,
Japanese Garden of Peace, Memorial Walk, and the Pacific Combat Zone are all part of the complex.
See displays of some of the most notable aspects and events of WWII in the Pacific. The recent
multi-million dollar expansion is so thorough, tickets are good for two days to give visitors time to really
explore, peruse the interactive exhibits and take in the galleries. Plan to spend at least one full day at
the National Museum of the Pacific War.
For lunch, experience a taste of German cuisine at the Ausländer Biergarten or Otto’s Restaurant
to feast on Jagerschnitzel served with hot German potatoe salad, sauerkraut, and a German beer.
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Before heading back to Rose Hill Retreat, enjoy a bistro dinner at Vaudeville.

7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
After dinner, enjoy the sunset and starry skies from your deck at Rose Hill Retreat.

DAY 3

8:00 am – 9:30 am
Enjoy a relaxing chef prepared 3-course hot breakfast at Rose Hill Retreat.

10:00 am – 11:00 am
Lounge for a bit to soak in your moments at Rose Hill Retreat. Return home rested and relaxed with
treasured memories.
